The Secret Beach

Esmeralda runs out of her house, arms flying behind her, glad to be free from homework. Up the hill in her backyard, at the top, she comes to a stop. It's her secret place, a place no one else knew about. If they did, she would never be alone up here again. The reason why is because this place, at the top of her hill, was beautiful. A long, white beach went down maybe one hundred feet, or more, boulders at either side of the beach blocking anyone from seeing the magic beyond. Following the white sand comes a crystal clear ocean. The sun is warm and makes Esmeralda feel as though she is glowing. After picking out some flat rocks, and laying them on another, bigger rock, she runs down to the body of water, not bothering to take her shoes off because, well, she didn't have any on. Splashing and jumping in the warm waters, she soon got bored of it. As always when this happened, she ran to the beach again and quickly climbed to the top of the boulders. Most people wo...

Summer Forever

Summer is day, a week, a month when the days are endless and bright. Sparkling mountains with rivers running down, and a picnic on the beach. Worries are free and we're sailing free, on an ocean that's blue and bright. That's what summers all about. And as the days slowing come cold, and slowly get shorter, you slowly begin to wonder, why couldn't it just be summer forever?

Did you know???

Did you know that lemons have more sugar than strawberries? Did you know that 11% of people are left handed? Did you know that August has the most people born in it on average? Did you know that 8% of the population have a extra rib? Did you know that the Hawaiian alaphabet only has 13 letters in it? Did you know that dreamt is the only word that ends in the letters "mt"?

Clouds- More Than Meets The Eye

When you think of a cloud, you think of it as a fluffy substance that is lighter than a feather. But, studies show that the average weight of a cloud is about 1.1 million pounds. This is because of the water that is carried in a cloud for when it rains. Now think of the weight of Asian elephant. About 12,000 pounds. Thus, making the weight of a cloud the same as if there were one hundred elephants in the sky. Or about the size of two transport ships. Or 4.5 railroad locomotive engines. Next time you look up at the fluffy clouds, think about how lucky you are for them to not be something else of the equal weight!

Why Eat Food When There Are Magazines?

Imagine a world where there are no grocery stores. I bet by this point you are thinking that everyone would have to grow their own food. No. In the place of grocery stores there are stores filled with magazines. Aisle after aisle, magazines are resting on shelves that are never bear. As fast as people can buy them, more are printed. But, there is something more to these magazines, as they are not normal. Instead of having stories or recipes, they are full of colorful photos of food. You can tear out these photos and eat them. How it is done is that the photos are bent and can be torn. When torn, the photos are activated to smell like the food at hand. You put these into your mouth, and they feel and taste like they normally would, except paper. The magazines are made based on what is being bought the least. If there is only one fish magazine sold, then the next printing there is, the majority will be fish. Some magazines will h...

Last Day Of School! Good Luck Class Of 2024!

Today was the last day of school, and it was bitter-sweet. On one hand, summer is starting and I can  sleep in as late as I want (which is about 9:00!) and the adventure of Junior High School will be starting. On the other hand, I have been there for seven years and have grown to know the teachers very well. I have exciting plans for summer though, so I feel like by the time August rolls around, I will be more exited for the new school than I am now. Also, my friends and I will be part of the class of 2024! Thank you to the amazing teachers, friends, and family I had along the journey of elementary school. You have helped me learn and grow in leaps and bounds. So, I think I am ready for summer, I mean come on! Who doesn't love to go for a swim?

Saved By The Dog

Saved By The Dog Darn. For the second time that day, Alice’s crayon had broke. It was the final day before the competition was over, and she didn’t have her project finished. Betty, her best friend and neighbor, had finished hers already. It was a horse standing in the backdrop of the red mountains. “I wonder what I could do?” thought Alice. She was sitting underneath a cactus. Her dog ran out to her with something in its mouth. Reaching out, the dog dropped it in her hand. A paintbrush. Then an idea came to her. She had been working so hard on crayon art, why not do something she was really good at? Running inside, she grabbed her paints and went back outside. Setting up her easel, she wondered what to paint. She looked to the cactus she was just sitting by. Her dog was there, with a flower stuck on her head. She was running in circles, then layed down. Alice started to paint.        -The Next Day- Alice’s painting was set up next to thirty...
