Good Things Weren't Meant To Last | A Poem For Those Affected By The Notre Dame Cathedral

How can life be so peaceful How can it be so bland When in another world It is crumbling in their hands Something that could have been stopped And even though we tried That was work of another life. Work that can't Even if one sets their heart on it Ever be remade Or replaced It held moments And memories Achievements And times of grief But good things were never meant to last And sometimes You have to accept that Even if it breaks your heart For good things aren't meant to last You have to put it in the past Regrow, relearn Don't take it for granted Even if you may Please Learn something new And use it another day For those of you affected by the Notre Dame Cathedral catching fire today, know that you are in our prayers. Don't give up hope.. and always look for the sliver-lining. Maybe its the fact that some of the precious art was saved, or that it isn't burnt to the ground. Keep your head up, even though there will be a gap in you...

Moon Shifts

When the moon shifts The people will stare And wonder in spite About what is out there Is it good? Is it bad? Is it something terribly sad? Shall we perish? And if we do... Will we go out there, to join the moon?

Poem Of A Tide

My feet hit the sand as I realize I'm home Back to the place where I can run free Back to where I can be me Frolick in the sun Splash in the waves And spend all day without a care Gradually getting a bad case of beach hair But I'm without a care Here by the tide

Blue Ridge Junction - New For Carowinds 2019 Season

Image
Image Credit to Isabella Showalter On Thursday I had the chance to attend the media preview for the newest addition to the Cedar Fair park known as Carowinds. This year the park brought back a classic area from when the park opened, Blue Ridge Junction, along with some new adventures. These include the Mountain Gliders, a panning for gold activity, Blue Ridge Country Kitchen dining experience, and the return of Blue (Originally Smurf) Icecream. And we can't forget the double launch coaster known as Copperhead Strike (shown above).  Let's break it down, shall we? Here I am walking down the red carpet (what!?!)  It was awesome Copperhead Strike              As previously mentioned, Copperhead Strike is a double launch coaster, and it happens to be the first and only in North and South Carolina. The first one [launch] goes from 0-42 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds, and the second 35-50 in 2 seconds. With five inversions ...

National Nap Day?

Since it is the return of daylight savings time, most people are very tired. We did lose an hour of sleep, after all! With this comes grump people, upset children, and everyone else who is yawning and falling asleep in class. How to fix this? I mean, it's not like not doing Daylight Savings Time would keep everyone going okay..? (It is very important, though) Bring in National Nap Day! Some people make napping a part of their everyday routine. However, the rest of us only nap if we are sick, maybe. But today I encourage each and every one of you to lay down, snuggle up, and take a nap!

Rain

There's a way the world feels after it rains The way the air smells, and the way it looks The pavement seems to glow As though even the worst things could look better Even if it pours, the unmistakable mark of puddles and the little ones jumping in them Is something not to be taken for granted People busy, going places, forced to slow down Perhaps this is bad, but think of it again Think about how the busy, rushing people Are forced to slow down and supposedly Smell the roses Would they of done this otherwise? No. Is it good that they did? Yes. For they were ripped out of their world of work And planted into the one of childlike imagination again So when it rains, fear not Do not be gloomy Think of all the things that are going right out there All the people, splashing in puddles And perhaps, instead of feeling down and blue Grab a coat, grab your gear And go ahead And get on out of here!

Clock

When looking at a clock, the seconds seem to take forever to go. So slow. The hour hand the worst, the minute a little better. However, without the second, it would be hard to tell if time was moving at all. However, the second hand takes quite the hike. Down the steep hill, into a ravine, only to get stuck and have to climb out again. The trip down is quick, easy, but getting back up is hard. The closer to the top, the slower it goes. To the point of almost not moving at all. Time stands still. And the weight of it is on the little ones' shoulder. It summons its strength and pushes until on top. We all cheer, for a new minute, is here. Up on the top, of the clock.
