Cupcakes, Corgis and Coasters - Oh My!

As you know, the holiday season is coming up, but not everyone has the chance to experience it. As a matter of fact, there are some kids in the hospital where this might be there last Christmas. Happy World Soil Day! Yup, that's right. World Soil Day is a day to celebrate everything dirty, and your excuse to jump in that mud puddle. Even though this day is mostly not known about, many animals love it. For example, worms. The little creatures that are responsible for fertilizing your garden live and thrive in dirt. So, what are you going to do this World Soil Day?

It was the summer of 2018, not too long ago in fact. I am 12, and normally like to go running, since recently joining my school's training club. However, after my 5k, I started to lounge around (more) and always be falling asleep whenever and wherever which was a problem. My mom took me to see the GI doctor at Cinncinati Children's who did some blood work. All the tests they ran ended up fine, but my blood sugar wasn't. The funny thing though, I was more worried about the finger prick than the blood draw! Neither hurt, however. My bg was 400 and something, way over where it should be (70-120). We were slightly alarmed, but decided to retest it a few days later just in case it was a mistake. It wasn't, in fact, it came back higher! That night, I was going out of town with my grandparents. I felt terrible the whole time, but did not let it stop me from having fun! But, when I got back a day later, it was too much. That night I went to bed like normal, but in the morning I...

Wishing that the snow could stay, all year every year. Only to realize that  In fact, if it did, you could never reverse it. The magic of summer and the activities that come with it would be lost.  Normal, what would it be? Feet of snow? The constant worry of coats and layers? Of slick roads?  Toboggans would be the new car, for cars could ever keep up with the slick and icy enchantment of winter.  Either you love or you hate it, there is no in between. It is cold all year, and the sad ones weave for Reasons unknown, but perhaps to put their mind at ease.

     After it rains, the world seems to glow. Cleansed of what made it imperfect, rain is a fresh start. But, don't mistake it, rain can also be dangerous. Rain makes the river flow and the floods fly. However, always remember that how many bad things that happen, there is always a good side. Whether it is a new start or just a sense of glow.
